Your first impression of this brief post may catch you by surprise. Unbeknown to the majority of Americans, the Russian's sent a beautiful and impressive memorial to the United States to honor those who died during the 911 Attacks. We came across this information quite accidentally, and would also thank SodaHead for posting information that our Mainstream News Media failed miserably in covering and in doing so, in our opinion, insulted those in Russia who felt our pain and responded with kindness and sympathy:

This is the "TEAR DROP" made and installed by the Russians to honor those who died in 9 11 and a statement against terrorism. It is very impressive. The tear drop is lined up with the Statue of Liberty.

Names of the persons killed on 9 11 are inscribed on the base. The base like the Vietnam Memorial wall It was a cold and windy day but well worth the drive to see. It is down in the shipping yards across from "The Lady" LINK
We cannot comprehend why the MSM failed to cover this gift to America with the significance it deserved, and their utter failure to acknowledge this tribute from the Russian people has embarrassed us and rather than thanking Russia for their kindness and sympathy, the failure of the MSM to properly cover this significant event was a slap in the face to those in Russia that attempted to demonstrate solidarity with us against terrorism and the terrible effect it has wrought upon nations throughout the global community. This is another example of why we need an independent news media that is not controlled by corporate conglomerates who often report upon what they feel we should know about rather than simply reporting the news not political spin and propaganda.

Even though this was originally posted in April of 2009, I have asked questions within my local community, and to this day, hardly anyone I have talked to were aware that this memorial even existed. Our Mainstream News Media has done the American people an incredible injustice by not covering this important gift to the United States, and in failing properly cover this gift, have embarrassed us as a nation and only exemplified the image of "The Ugly American."
