I worked hard all my life, or rather both my lives - in old country and new. i am tired of stupid people who dare to tell me that they have no time to look at things which stare right into their goddamn eyes.

"I don't watch TV. It isn't worth it." I hear that from many people. Same with newspapers, internet, etc, "I don't do it. Too busy."

Usually such people when they say that, they look at you as if you have all the time at your disposal; while they work so hard, you apparently entertain yourself. If you push further and ask if they had read any books, you will get the answer, "Oh, I have to, yes, but who has time. In this economy, you know.."Now they bring in the forces of nature.

I never know what to say to those people. Should I say that spending a fortune on sports events, buying tickets, driving there, shouting like an idiot and making gut noises with bad beer is not really time well spent? Or should I say that coming to work on time and then preparing one ppt file for eight hours is not really a productive activity? Or should I mention that reading 'My Utmost For My Highest' is not really reading; it is more like learning the traffic rules?

Or should I tell those folks that they are never busy, just they are preoccupied with mainly senseless activity? Say, yes, you love your child but yelling your lungs out at the soccer match is not really love. It is vanity. You better read something.

Spiritual ignorance begets spiritual laziness and malice. You can have active Tea-Party folks and they seemingly have all the time in the world to demonstrate and make mischief. NOBODY ever asked how is it possible; how is that those folks have no time for books but plenty of it for organized stupidity. But when OWS took place, the first accusation was that they were just lazy bums, losers, who could not find a job. Never ever MSM questions the efficiency of say, Rep. Paul Ryan, the man who is definitely out of his mind, but Kucinich was scrutinized like crazy and eventually ousted.

And we here, among the liberals,-we seem to promote the same myth- that our dear American folks have no time to look around; they work so hard" in this economy, you know" Nonsense. They don't work hard. They are preoccupied with being likable to their bosses. Meaningful work is rare.

Americans love to mention that they are open-minded. But in all honesty, to have an open mind you have to have a mind first. The problem, the chronic disease of the US is exactly the absence of mind, the so called 'availability of absence' syndrome-that is physically the mind is available but it is self-short-circuited in the perpetual loop of self indulgence and external humiliation. People are humiliated all the time by others, by those who use them; then they need self- indulgence to not to snap- that makes it possible to live another day- and the cycle returns.

And you know what-in many cases it is all a goddamn lie; they do watch TV, even hysterically-they watch games and '24' and all kinds of soap operas and all those televangelists. Only they want to maintain an image. They lie and you know they lie but what is the use to tell them that? They are not your friends. They are the 'I don't" people.
