I had quite a surprise today while I was reading one of the many Reuters articles about the many sources of our current financial devastation. One of the articles on Bernard Madoff lifted my despair over having to put up with the Help America Vote Act. Here's why: The Help America Vote Act is fed primarily by two very hefty charitable sources: The PEW Charitable Trusts and the JEHT Foundation. Between 1948 and 1979, two sons and daughters of the founder of Sun Oil Company, founder Joseph N. Pew and Mary Anderson Pew established seven charitable funds. They are one of the financial powerhouses that drive the Help America Vote Act. The other financial powerhouse that drives The Help America Vote Act is the JEHT Foundation. The acronym stands for Justice, Equality, Human dignity and Tolerance. JEHT was conceived in April 2000. It makes grants available for many necessary and unnecessary services. Reuters reported today that JEHT is closing up shop next month. Two JEHT donors - Jeanne Levy - Church and Kenneth Levy - Church, were investors in the Madoff business. Election Advocates and Agencies of all ilk - before you despair that your funding will be cut off - please- consider rejoicing. I shall give my eye teeth to enjoy the demise of ONE of the laws that turned many voters into second - class citizens. Do remember: Election Advocates and Agencies came into existence in April 2000. I for one, could have done without the rape of my country's intrinsic voting values. Many Election Advocacy groups and Agencies climbed on board for the binge.
