Jeffery in this opinion piece titled "Is Water-Boarding Ever Right?" at Townhall.com, wants us to believe that water boarding and other methods of torture should be legal and practiced. To prove so he presents a scenario, bomb placed in stadium holding SuperBowl a certain February day,"Madam President",is hesitant to water board the detained suspect, based on advice of Attorney General Charles Schumer.
You can see he wants the readers to believe that if Hillary Clinton is elected President then the national security will be jeopardy because the Democrats don't believe in torture. He is pushing for America to be a nation that tortures its prisoners, without any regards to international law.
If neocons like Jeffery manage to sway the decision makers in White House and Congress, this country will lose credibility(the little that is left). But I gather that Jeffery does not care, here is what he has to say in support of water boarding "If members of Congress now want to prohibit water-boarding of captured terrorists who might have knowledge of coming attacks, they should propose a law expressly forbidding it. Then, we can have an illuminating public debate. Was pouring water over Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's face an intrinsically evil act of torture no morally enlightened country should countenance, or an unavoidable act of self-defense that was as much a duty -- if not so severe -- as shooting a bomber running toward a marketplace?"(Townhall.com)
