The president today reiterated his bogus point about critics not having a plan to deal with the mess he made in Iraq.Like his silence about the tragedy of New Orleans, he refuses to acknowledge that other ideas exist to alleviate the situation in Iraq. Not a new trend for the man. And so we get his usual strident, demanding tone dismissive of all he disagrees with.
Perhaps the most far-reaching and, from this vantage point, the most intelligent ideas have come from Dennis Kucinich. His twelve-point plan is remarkably comprehensive. It's problem, from the administration and corporate media perspective, is that it abandons the imperialist agenda our government has been so hell-bent on in the Middle East.
Congressman Dennis Kucinich, an again named candidate for President of the United States, has proposed a twelve-point plan for bringing peace to Iraq that makes far more sense than anything else out there. Which of course, means it's hands off for the big media boys.
See the Kucinich plan here.
Keith Olbermann is a glimmer of light in a very dark landscape of media news. His reporting, far less prone to the mumbo jumbo of newspeak that is the norm, has opened eyes and offered a nice ratings boost for his show, Countdown. Commentaries on Bush and the administration have offered a fresh breeze in a very stale room.
While his producers may still reject the idea, a bunch of email supporting this idea could have an impact.

But the times they are a changin...
If we blogheads can push this idea around and out we could actually force the Iraq debate into a wholly new and radically better direction. And along with bugging Keith, we can click a few more times and inform ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX and PBS News of our opinion. [Non-linked sites require pop-up forms.]
We're not really used to this two-way, real-time communication thing yet. There are folks in other parts of the world who are coordinating demonstrations and protests through cell phones. Yet we in the U.S. have been spoiled, and lied to, and even betrayed. And the result is the dismal circumstance of these times. But if we've been slow to take up the mantle and torch, let us also be clear in our direction if we be now stirred. Let's get out of Iraq, and let's start demanding attention to commonplace issues. While we're at it, don't be slow to change the channel or turn the box off when the pundits start their incessant chatter about the 2008 elections. Such chatter was ridiculous in the old days. In these new times two years out - it's obsolete.
Thank you for who you are, and your efforts to support peace.
