In France, people get some real value back for the taxes they pay. Taxes cover health care and college tuition. Let’s take these in order:
Health Care: imagine, you loose your job because it is outsourced but you keep your health care. Imagine, there are fewer infectious diseases because the poor can see a doctor. Imagine, fewer bankruptcies because health care is guaranteed to all workers. This is called universal single-payer health care. They have it in France and they are smarter than us for having done it.
Tuition: we always hear about how we're in a global economy where knowledge matters for keeping jobs. Well, our competitors are giving tuition away to their citizens. They will be more competitive in the global economy. Their economies will grow and ours will be eclipsed. Subsidizing people to get more knowledge is really smart.
We need to vote for people who believe in these common-sense, intelligent reforms. They're in emerging parties. Fewer Porsches for the rich, in exchange for healthier, more educated workers. That's good for everybody, including the rich.
