Despite sizeable majorities at the national level, Democrats lose two major state elections. It's time for the Dems to wake up and catch the scent of the American people.

::::::::

Yesterday, the party of an incumbent President and majorities in both houses of Congress, suffered the loss of gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey, and in that latter state to an incumbent Democrat governor.
.
Did the "people's party" heed that the majority of Americans now support ending the War of Lies in the Middle East? Did the "people's party" read the polls that the majority of Americans supports universal healthcare? Did the "people's party" not consider that to champion these popular movements at the national level would lend momentum and support (read votes) to Democrats at the state level?
.
ARE YOU LISTENING, DEMS? Oh, so sorry, really did not intend to intrude upon yourclosed session withLockheed-Martin and Humana!
.
Whutsamatta you, Dems? All those majorities at the national level, and with such clear expressions of the will of the citizens who put you in office, and all we hear about is "blue dogs," two-thousand-page medical bills, and that your President needs more time and must be ever so careful of his position, and how elegant are the nuances of his rhetoric.
.
What's wrong with a party with all those majorities? How about lack of political courage? Oh, and did I mention integrity?
.
Is there a need for a politicalparty in America that actually represents the will of the people? Yes, a desperate one? Do we have such a party? Not in the remotest form!
.
Yes we need a people's party, and we're going to get one, perhaps if only persuaded by that alternative to revolution. And it won't be led by a bunch of clowns advising that this or that interest of the people does not get the vigorous support of their elected majority, or that desperately needed reforms are "off the table" (and, my god, where did you come up with that one?)
.
In the meantime, Dems, enjoy your incumbency while you can. You might get some benefit from reviewing the story about Nero fiddling while Rome burned, or can you not possibly imagine your leader tap dancing around issues while the respect for our government by the world community and its very own citizens crumbles?

Rafe Pilgrim, after "a life largely wasted on hard honest work," found himself a jungle of turkey oak, scrub pine and giant palmettos up a dirt road running east of Crystal River, Florida, which neither school busses nor the U.S. Postal Service dare (more...)
