"You may all go to Hell, and I will go to Texas."Davy Crockett.
The only thing missing was the coonskin cap.
Sarah Palin may have saved her job in Alaska, but she did nothing to save the drowning campaign of John McCain.
I saw a woman setting her own rules and answering her own questions rather than those insignificant, pesky policy questions, that in her mind, were clearly fed to Gwen Iffel by the main stream media she despises. Ms. Palin portrayed herself as a paranoid, pugnacious and dare I say perky and flirty light weight in the ring with a seasoned heavy weight.
Sarah left no doubt that she has stepped into an atmosphere where the air is too rich for her to breathe. She is very good at circumnavigating questions with a wink and a nod coupled with a folksy facade that really emphasises her disdain for the real knowledge of where she is and the gravity of the position she seeks. She proved in her scripted responses that she does not belong a heartbeat away from the Presidency. The very thought of this happening is frightening.
Shuffling through her talking points in a state much akin to frantic sleep walking, Sarah Palin played to the far right base, and I feel the only crowd that she is really interested in impressing. It seems she doesn't understand, she already owns them. The 30 percent that have stuck by Bush and laugh at intelligence is already firmly in her corner.
Joe Biden stayed on point, and in a clear and concise way outlined his and Obamas' vision for a renewed America. His rebuttals were brutal, in a kind way, and they always went unchallenged by the pretender. He proved his understanding of the complexities of Foreign affairs and did not rely on cheat sheets with stock right wing answers. He accentuated his command of domestic affairs and reached out to the middle class with empathy and understanding only a person who has felt their pain can do. He answered her talking point jabs with a vigor that has kept him in Congress and will propel him into the second seat at the White House.
If I sound bias it is because I am. I am sick and tired of right wing obfuscation and one liners that appeal to the emotions while the pickpocket empties your wallet. And does so with a holier than thou attitude.
I would feel sorry for Sarah Palin but it is she who thinks she can hustle us. Enough.
Change is coming and Sarah is going back to Alaska.
Tnut.
The vote is the antidote.
