Almost as soon as the Supercommittee was formed to address the deficit - predictably - the MSM took up the Republican talking point that the committee's job was to cut spending. Never mind that the deficit could be reduced by both spending cuts and revenue increases. Never mind that simply allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire would bring in $4 trillion over ten years. I have heard almost every news media outlet - including MSNBC - describe the committee as as charged with cost cutting, rather than just with deficit reduction.
