Remember when Raisin Brain was pressed to explain the role of Condi Rice, who at that time was his National Security Advisor, and he answered: “ . . . her job is also to deal interagency and to help unstick things that may get stuck; she’s an unsticker.”
Seems as if the Shoe Lady has become increasingly mired in some sticky situations with students questioning her approval of waterboarding and other war crimes, and some of them aren’t old enough to watch PG-13 movies! Last week she took some heat from Stanford students who ambushed her in a dorm and asked her to explain why waterboarding wasn’t torture.
But now she’s facing similar questing from the Hannah Montana set. According to Think Progress, “Rice was put on the defensive on the issue again today while visiting an elementary school in Washington, DC. During a Q & A session with students, a 4th grader named Misha Lerner asked Rice about ‘the things President Obama’s administration was saying about the methods the Bush administration had used to get information from detainees.’ Rice replied that ‘After September 11, we wanted to protect the country, I hope you understand that it was a very difficult time. We were all so terrified of another attack on the country. Even under those most difficult circumstances, the president was not prepared to do something illegal, and I hope people understand that we were trying to protect the country.’”
Rice then thanked the class for such a nice visit, stopped by the school office for a copy of their fingerprints and dental records, faxed them to Cheney, and headed out to the nearest Nordstrom’s Shoe Outlet for some retail therapy.
