Public posting of an email received from DEFCON, The Campaign To Defend The Constitution in refernce to Foleygate and the Religious Reich's attempt to blame anyone but the Republicans for this travesty.

::::::::

The spin alchemists are working overtime trying to do damage control on Foleygate. I have to admit that it's pretty amusing the depths to which they are plunging to deflect blame from the Republican Party's power elite. Of course none of it washes with me, and even given statements I made in a comment about the aggregate stupidity of the American Public, I have my doubts as to whether anyone else with half a brain is buying it, either.

This morning, in my usual batch of email, I found a little gem from The Campaign To Defend The Constitution, or DEFCON. The headline of this gem was, "Where's the Religious Right on Foley?" Since I don't know how many here are receiving emails from DEFCON, I am going to cut and paste the meat of the article. I find it interesting how hard the Religious Reich is working to deny the truth which is lying there before them like a big, steaming pile of freshly dropped bullshit. That truth is, Foley abused his power, and some underaged pages, and the Republican power elite was informed, but either chose to do nothing hoping it would go away, or was neglegent in taking care of the situation for other unknown reasons.

BEGIN REPOSTED EMAIL......

Dear [Pappy],

The religious right loves to cast itself as the protector of family, children, and morality. But in the face of the Rep. Foley scandal, the religious right has chosen to attack gays, the "Left," and supporters of "tolerance and diversity," instead of Congressional leaders who had been warned about Foley's harassment of pages for years and chose to put their political interests above the interests of children.

See for yourself where the religious right believes the blame really lies......and when you're done, be sure to send this message to your friends.

Blame Tolerance and Diversity!
"It's outrageous, it's shocking. But it shouldn't be totally surprising when we hold up tolerance and diversity as the guidepost for public life this is what you end up getting."
-- Tony Perkins, President, Family Research Council

Blame the Homosexuals!
"But neither party seems likely to address the real issue, which is the link between homosexuality and child sexual abuse."
-- Tony Perkins, President, Family Research Council

Blame the Left!
The Foley revelations are "an attempt to discourage Christian conservative voters and to get some percentage of them to stay home so that the Left can retake the United States Senate and the United States House."
-- Gary Bauer, Chairman, Campaign for Working Families

Blame....Planned Parenthood?
"There is never an acceptable excuse or rationale for the type of deviant behavior former Congressman Mark Foley has admitted to. Homosexuality is every bit a part of the culture of death as is abortion and contraception. Not surprisingly, Foley was an ardent supporter of both, representing the interests of Planned Parenthood 64 percent of the time thus far in 2006."
-- Human Life International

Outraged? We are. Be sure to tell your friends where the religious right stands on the Foley debacle.

Also be sure to stay tuned at the DefConBlog.

Sincerely,
Clark and the rest of the DefCon team

END REPOSTED EMAIL......

Talk about casting blame everywhere but where it belongs.

In case it doesn't come through translation, allow me to post a link to DEFCON so those of interest might be able to access this web page more easily. http://ga3.org/campaign/defender_foley/forward/i6b7ux3ra5b87wd?

Please go to the site, and sign the petition. Let's not let up on this issue one Iota!

I will address each one of their lies in a future posting. For now, it is my intent to get this information out. I don't want to make this article any longer than it is right now.

Blessed be!
Pappy
