It’s the Monday after Easter, which came early this year. This morning I heard that Clinton spokesman, James Carvel referred to Bill Richardson’s endorsement of Barack Obama as being on a par with Judas betraying Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. …Hillary Clinton as Jesus???? She aint even Mary Magdalene and she sure as hell aint Mother Mary. She’s more like the Queen Mary I image in the rhyme: “Mary, Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow? …With silver bells and cockle shells and pretty maids all in a row.” The cockle shells refer to the unfaithfulness of Queen Mary’s husband. …That yellow jacket may be ugly, but it fits.
Until I heard Carvel’s remark oozing from the Voodoo Mouth TM, my attention had failed to catch a subtext that has been scrubbed in the Clinton/MSM “kitchen sink” for months. It is the comparison of Barack Obama to the image of a false Messiah …as a false hope: First, there was Hillary’s sarcastic remark in reference to Senator Obama about how the sky wasn’t just going to open up and the choirs of angels sing. Then there was the MSM pundit who said that after the Rev. Wright flap we know that Sen. Obama is mortal and that if he goes to walk across Lake Michigan he just might sink.

So there we have some script that would write Barack Obama off as a false savior. If this is what his enemies actually THINK about him to the point that they would find the strategy viable enough to put into practice, (which they obviously have) perhaps we should instead interpret this as a validation or a “sign” that he is at least better than George Bush …and Hillary Clinton …and John McCain. He may not be Jesus, (and for the record, I’ve NEVER heard him claim that he is) though he does a pretty good sermon on the mount. I can say that because I’ve been there. Still, if he can fix health care, get us out of this recession, bring some relief to our troops stuck in the middle of a fight abroad, and get congress to do SOMETHING decisive, I’ll take that over “water into wine” or “loaves and fishes” any day.
I’m left wondering which character would Hillary Clinton be in this little religious caricature being spun by the Clinton/MSM cabal? I would think that the Clinton’s are those Pharisees who were the entrenched religious “experts” in their communities. They knew all of the customs and held the political power of the community. They touted their experience as the basis for their authority and their sense of “entitlement” …to use Bill Richardson’s frame. Jesus continually admonished them and, in fact, he called them a “generation of vipers.” "Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose."
I guess I’ll close this by casting Ted Kennedy as John the Baptist since he ‘anointed’ Barack Obama with the Kennedy mantle and Bill Richardson must be Paul who converted AFTER the crucifixion.
At the end though, James Carvel leaves us with an interesting question: Just who IS the real Judas who helped the Romans crucify Barack Obama on the cross of his own church? Who framed the worst moments of those sermons of Rev Wright and saw to it that they were the fresh hamburger meat thrown to the raving masses?
How appropriate that at Easter, He was able to rise from the dead.
