Perhaps we are asking the wrong question about the new Korean crisis.

::::::::

We thought the Abramoff web was complicated and it is (and it may never be entirely sorted out, certainly not until after elections) - but it pales next to the Moonies' web that extends through the Bush family and into the Koreans, North and South. Though their hair may be different, both W. and Kim Jong-Il are heirs to family wealth and fortune and the interrelationship is complicated. Though the dear leaders may hate one another, they are drinking from the same well. The radioactive rod for both is the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, commonly known in the US as the leader of the forgotten cult group of Moonies. Moon has strong ties to the Korean leaders and to the Bush family. And let's not forget that Moon has said openly that he is the Messiah a rather attractive quality to W.

The Korean connection has surprising parallels with the Bush family relationship to the Saudi princes. There is no moral imperative stronger than the smell of money; it cuts across all kinds of cultural divides. So courting the Saudis who smile and shake hands on the deal while they breed terrorism is OK because there is personal wealth to be gained. Similarly, courting the Moonies who shake on the deal while they support Kim Jong-Il is OK because there is personal wealth to be gained. And let's not forget the Moonie pledge to use their rag The Washington Times as an arm of support for the Bush dynasty. The Bush family private business deals are made without any regard for US policy or law. Perhaps we are asking the wrong question about the new Korean crisis. What does Rev. Moon and his gang have to gain from the situation and how might he be playing his hand in this?
