As many of you know. I live out here in Gallup New Mexico and I know of the tremendous hardships Native children have to face. There is so much that needs to be done and so much we can do.

If you can think back to when you were a child, there were times when we all needed help, guidance, lil extra love, hope and strength to pull through and grow up..
Here at S.O.T.Y <> We are continuing that tradition as caregivers, helpers, supporters and friends. We have come together to make a difference in not only the children's lives but also lessen some struggle/

SOTY is a non-profit organization that is dedicating our lives, love, values, and hearts to make a difference, and show our tribal youth, that yes- somewhere out there they are not forgotten, lost, that they are indeed within our hearts and lives forever. When you sign up for child sponsorship you are aiding in the future of that child throughout his or her life sometimes without even knowing it. They are like flowers, you plant the seed within the earth, nurture it, take care of it, pulling weeds, keeping away pests an things that could destroy it , protecting and within in that flower you leave the mark of your heart/spirit. I myself being a soty board member have also signed up to be a sponsor- It is a beautiful experience an life changing thing. When you can reach out without requesting anything in return it is a great feeling. I have a young man named Charles from Kyle ,SD he is in kindergarten. His family have taken me in an accepted me as a family friend to them, and it means a lot. You cannot just expect a huge relationship from anybody without building that trust and respect..some people forget the conditions an how it is on the REZ Many people have only seen the "tourist" spots on a reservation, not the actual rez. It can be unforgiving an hard for communication, mailing / shipping etc...it takes TIME....and it will happen...Jus do not give up hope or try and rush things along. His family shared many aspects of their life, an his family an also included pictures of immediate and also every member of the extended family!! That is a huge thing, and such a blessing when I developed the film. I am able to do what I can to help support him an take a little burden off his mother, and I choose to do so... Because I may not have much, but I have had so many people help me along my path, you just simply pay it forward...You never know when that help will be returned somewhere down the line....OR who your child will grow up an help along his lifetime., because you chose to support him as they grow! This movie will aid in getting the Truth, Lives, Realities, Documented Film of life on Pine ridge and many messages. I cannot say this enough, how we have to band together in order to make changes...a few people is good, but we need so many more! When you work together you can change things lil by lil and accomplish amazing things!! Every morning before I go to work I see my Charles's smiling face, He is the reason / I continue to fight and strive for soty to be a success, to see an adoring innocent face looking up too me is all it takes for me to know why I am here doing what we do.
