Never been to Alaska. I suppose the summers are breathtaking and the 24 hours of light would be an insomniac's paradise. The winters though are a sad story. There is a condition referred to as SAD, "seasonal affective disorder", which I believe most Alaskans succumb to at one time or another. Also known as cabin fever, SAD is a condition primarily caused by lack of sunlight. This creates depression and lethargy. Alaskans are 10 times more apt to get SAD then say people living in Florida.
I would be sad and get SAD spending a winter in Alaska.
Can't even imagine total darkness for months on end, not to mention the snow, wind and cold.
A person that lives in Alaska for more then a year receives about $3400.00 a year just to live there. This comes from an oil windfall profit. Personally they would have to increase that about 20 times to get me there.
On to Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin tries to pass herself off as a woman for all seasons. The problem is Alaska only has two seasons winter and summer. I think that 6 months of darkness, has created in her a black and white personality, with no grey areas. Until now. Ambition superceeds and also replaces the darkness within. The adulation and fame compromises the family values that once were a priority. We now have a marionette for a candidate. She will do only what the strings tell her to do. When she becomes a liability the strings will be cut and then with the approaching winter, the Alaska darkness will take hold and the fleeting fame will turn into a seasonal affective disorder. How SAD.
Oh by the way, with 5 kids hubby and her receive over $23,000 a year, with another $3400 in the oven.
