Some voices are sweet to the ear, no matter how often the little guy on our shoulder keeps telling us to beware.

::::::::

Friendship is something else. I remember a family moving in across the street and me making friends with one of the boys. We were the same age and we hit it off right away. We hung out together as often as we possibly could. Dale's big sister Vickie was hooked on Elvis. Dale and I used to tease Vickie about her effection for Elvis and she'd chase us out of the house with a wooden spoon 'cause she was almost always busy making oatmeal cookies for us....and for Elvis in case he stopped by. Some things stick. Some friendships stick too. Some are hard to come by and some never come at all but some of the closest relationships between two persons can come out of a conflict...once they make peace with one another. Believe me when I tell you, the Russians love their children too. I know this first-hand and I'm proud to be in the position to say to you today, I have many friends that are Russians. Our friendship is special as we know our mutual histories. We know where we now stand and we know we need one another.

That's me, those are my words and my thoughts. I hope Angie can relate. I pray Angie can relate. Her predecessor can, does and did;

'Serious Mistakes by the West'

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder discusses the war in the Caucasus, the possibility of Germany serving as an intermediary in the conflict and his belief in a constructive role for Russia.

So, tell me, how's the election coming? Is Obama gonna take it? Will it make any difference if he does? Gerhard Schröder thinks it will. Read the interview. Stop and think for a while. Think like a Russian if you can. If you can't, try thinking like a European for a change. And remember, a kid'll eat the middle of an Oreo first and save the chocolate cookie outsides for last.
