An article on trolling here has already happened. I feel the need to more directly challenge what is happening here on OpEdNews. I feel like targeting the engagements that have occurred in the comments sections because they have been ridiculous.

::::::::

I like Ron Paul. I watched the GOP debate on Thursday because I wanted to see Ron Paul hammer the GOP candidates with his intelligence and passion for true conservatism. I like him for the same reasons I like Pat Buchanan. I may not agree with both of these men on many issues but I would enjoy seeing them in office. If any two people could make me not hate Republicans and call them thugs, it would be them. Oh, and John W. Dean. I like him too.

That said, the Ron Paul hooey, nonsense, balderdash, gobbledygook, hogwash, bunkum, and claptrap has got to stop.

The comments section for OpEdNews did not use to be like DemocraticUnderground. People had genuine conversation.

I do not like Democratic Underground because conversation never reaches a point of intelligence. It’s people saying the same thing over again. It’s people thinking if they say it more than the other people they are arguing with they will be right. This is the thought process of the Bush administration and should not be the thought process of liberals or progressives.

The Ron Paul people are saying the same thing repeatedly here on OpEdNews and are reducing the comment section to childish exchanges of highly emotional banter. One could say they are spamming articles. There are sleights on people coming repeatedly from them too. But it’s not just them who are bothersome…

OpEdNews members are actually responding to the Ron Paul-ians who merely wish to advertise their candidate in the comments section of OpEdNews. They are responding to those that claim they are not saying people should vote for him but then go on to defend him vigorously and make a point of telling people he is still an option. They are engaging those who claim Kucinich isn’t for peace and mounted a campaign to brainwash people into believing he was the peace candidate when really Ron Paul is.

These Ron Paul-ites are vultures who sit at home and Digg articles for hours and hours so Ron Paul reaches 1000 Diggs and more on every article he is featured in. They go through thousands of YouTube video of Ron Paul so they can give it over a thousand five star ratings. They swarm polls (not that Kucinich supporters didn’t do that---they did and it clearly didn’t pay off). They want you to let them bloviate all over your comment because they have met every argument against Ron Paul by now and can shoot it down. You commenting gives them their chance to "shine."

OpEdNews members, we’ve got better things to do than sit here and tell them what Ron Paul really stands for. Besides, what does it matter? It’s not like he poses a threat to the Democratic nomination. His candidacy is not going to affect who the Democratic Party chooses. So why worry about him before we even know if he is going to be the Republican nominee? If he is, the nominee, I will see ample reason to take on the minions of Ron Paul.

But for right now, let’s focus: Impeachment, defunding the war, economic recovery, energy independency, going green, single-payer health care, etc. Those are the issues that you need to attend to instead of what Ron Paul may or may not stand for.

I am going after OpEdNews members because I expect better from you. I’m far less worried about people accidentally voting Ron Paul than I am worried about people voting Clinton, Edwards, or Obama without understanding how small the difference is between them and some of the GOP candidates. Romney and Clinton seem like carbon copies of each other if you examine their records, policies, fundraising, and speeches closely.

Please. We have wolves in sheep's clothing to deal with. Keep the dream of true progressivism and true change in America alive. Don’t waste time having discussions that have already been had repeatedly here on OpEdNews already. (And believe me, they’ve been had. I’ve made the mistake of reading every single one of them.)
