There are two sides to every question. Three, four, five or six sides when the first two get found out to be lies!
Once again, like Viet Nam and so many of these types of the-world-is-going-to-cease-to-exist-conflicts, the one side shows evidence and quotes the President's words about "faulty intel," while the other side drones on and on in some dream world about what "might" happen if the problem isn't addressed. They get so lost in deep beliefs they don't even hear the President when he says "no, there's no connection between Iraq and September 11."
Yes! Anything MIGHT happen!!! Anything! Russia may unload their almost 6000 nuclear warheads in all four directions. Another meteor could hit and wipe out the rest of the dinosaurs! (But Florida is such a lovely place . . .) A giant Tsunami might hit NYC and kill 8 million with a series of 75 foot waves! Jesus might return - sooner rather than later.
Did I forget anything? Oh, yes! Iraq and Iran with the help of Al Qaeda might take over Washington, D.C. and we will all be forced to wear turbans and cover our wives faces during sex! We'll have add an "Al" or a "Bin" as middle names - like Robert bin Kall or Dusty mauk Nathan or Colin al Powell. It's a friggin' nightmare.
Whether one likes it or not, here is an-almost indisputable FACT: If Bush and Cheney, the House and Senate and most of the people who are proponents of this war - any war! - had to send their kids/grandkids there; or, if Bush/Cheney thought they could be subject to a Nuremberg-type tribunal, few wars would ever begin. Especially "wars" like this.
There is something wrong. The inception of war should not be predicated upon "Domino" theory. A war should be a cause that most citizens are ready to die for; Moreover, ready for our progeny to die for in the order of societal preservation; or the immanent threat of total annihilation.
War, death and killing should never happen because the balance might tilt a degree or two. For that we have telephones or it gets worse, robotic things called missiles and submarines - not nearly 4,000 American lives and the cleansing of our national treasury.
