The last I heard, teenage boys inevitably GET themselves whiskey and car keys. To fantasize that they won't is total denial. The trick is to get them to survive the experience and to act as wisely and responsibly as possible.
Government is, in modern society a necessity. Those who claim that corporations can replace government often cite, wrongly and inaccurately, Adam Smith, that the market will cure all.
It ain't so.
The challenge is to balance the need for services and products with the need for low cost and high quality.
Libertarians would sell off "the commons" to corporations. They criticize government, calling any effort to provide any service as socialist or socialized.
Let's not forget that police, schools, fire departments, park rangers are all government people. Then let's look at the grand anti-government experiment-- privatizing the military in Iraq- perhaps the biggest boondoggle and fiasco in history.
