Republicans Will Repeal "Obamacare"
Today my mother got a check from Medicare for $250. I had heard this might happen but didn't know when. This is part of the Affordable Care Act, popularly called "Obamacare".
It is designed to help seniors who reach the infamous "donut-hole" in their prescription coverage, that crazy lapse in coverage from $2,700 to $6,143 in incurred expenses where all of the expense is out-of-pocket. This will certainly help but it doesn't even cover one month of the Aricept medication that my mother takes. But the expense she has to incur in the donut hole will shrink each year until the year 2020 when it will disappear altogether thanks to Obamacare.
This past May I became the proud father of a college graduate. It is a moment I'll never forget. Sadly, with the economy in such bad shape she has yet to find a job. Fortunately, she has health insurance coverage through her mother's plan because the same Affordable Care Act provided that children up to the age of 26 can be carried on their parents plan. If it weren't for that she would probably have to go without coverage because of the expense.
If the Republicans regain control of Congress they have vowed to repeal Obamacare. Yet another reason for me to vote Democrat this election.
