First off, if you haven't registered to vote, register to vote (go to a public building and pick up a form). Don't just register for any political party. Register unaffiliated or for an emerging political party (e.g. Green, Libertarian). Even if you don't agree with them completely, I'd argue there's value in it. It is a wonderful challenge to two-party rule and you can still vote for whoever you want in general elections. If you re-register to change your party just be careful that you don't miss your state's deadline for the November 4th election.
Then you can brag about your bold, sensual, robust civic life :)
