Sex scandals. Primary candidate name-calling. Controversial sermons. We all have been saturated with salacious news, cheap thrills, and gossip, on our TV screens.
Buried among the frivolities, was a story about troops being electrocuted in showers in their Iraq living quarters. KBR, the Halliburton subsidiary, is alleged to have knowingly allowed the accidents to happen, due to faulty electrical wiring.
Funny thing, KBR has also been accused of supplying contaminated water to the troops, for bathing and laundry, that has allegedly caused such lovely outcomes as cellulitis and diarrhea.Sure, the stories have been mentioned on CNN, MSNBC, and the AP. But nowhere near as often as the hysteria over Rev. Wright’s sermon sound bites, or the glee over the various sex scandals that have appeared in the news of late.
Shame on the MSM. With their obsession over whether Obama is patriotic enough, the flag-wearing, the cheerleading of the war - when it really comes time to “support the troops” - where are they? There should be a steady drumbeat of questions surrounding these stories, on the order of Nightline’s famous “America Held Hostage” series, until action is taken. Support the troops, indeed.
