Malaria is the real pandemic, but I don't hear any news outlets talking about it.

Malaria a real pandemic in the third world that kills a million people a year, and infects half a billion people annually gets no news at all. While the world freaked out about a few people killed by the swine flu, malaria just went right on killing about 2000 people a day. Did anyone run into the streets screaming about it? I didn't see MSNBC running 24/7 scare shows about how everyone is going to die from malaria. Did you?

The CDC says that this disease is easily curable with some simple cheap medicines, but simply is not. The countries infected with malaria are generally poor, and it is difficult to distribute enough medication for all who are infected. It could be something else. It could be that the big pharmaceuticals wouldn't make enough money selling medicines to the third world, but were set to make a killing off of panicked Euro-American people who have very little chance of catching a mild flu from Mexico.

I enjoy writing about political/ economic events, and I am especially concerned about the US as a warlike nation. I would like to see this nation turn itself around from a conquering nation in both commerce and war to a nation of peace. I hope that (more...)
