Hey there!
I am quite happy at the moment. I posted the last entry I made here at a site called opednews.com. I got a few responses. It was nice to have people finally make comments on my writing, and positive comments at that. It's nice to know that there is an audience for a dyed in the wool DUBYA basher like myself.
So, in that vein, I am off to the races to slam on the chimp in chief again. I do it for two reasons. Firstly, I despise DUBYA. I despise him for his ignorance. I despise him for his lying. I despise him because he is the biggest fucking hypocrite that has ever crawled into the White House. I despise him because he despises me, my kind (gays, blue collar workers, poor people, and so on), and anyone else who isn't a member of the "haves and have mores".
Secondly, I am doing it because I want to let some other people know that I am an American who is just as disgusted with our "leader" as the rest of the world. I did not vote for that drooling moron...TWICE! I do not support anything that he has done, left undone, said, or thinks (I don't know I can truly apply that last word to him at all).
I do not support his illegal war in Iraq. I have signed innumerable petitions to both he and congress calling for an end to it. I have never supported that conflict, nor will I ever support any conflict born of lies, deceit, and intentionally doctored intelligence.
Before someone goes there, I do support the troops. They are in a bad situation. Many of them joined the military for educational purposes, and really aren't that thrilled with the idea of being shot at while trying to quell the beginnings of a civil war.
That said, I do not support any of the troops who have participated in murder, rape, torture, or any other war crimes. The last thing we need is to have the unstable element make the situation worse.
I do not support DUBYA's domestic policies. I do not, and cannot support anyone who would try to write discrimination into the constitution in the form of denying gays the right to marry. I do not support his "religious" stance, such as his veto of the stem cell research bill. This is especially true because he dared to say he cared about life, when there are 1600 souls that departed this Earth because he didn't care about the lives of those in the path of Hurricane Katrina. It's that whole hypocrite thing again.
I do not support his economic policies. He has done more to move American jobs overseas than any other elected official in the history of the US. He has done more to crush the blue collar middle class, of which I used to be a part than any other elected official in history, bar none! He has given breaks and money to those people who need it least, up to and including his Oil Pig buddies in the form of tax breaks and subsidies. His economic policies have destroyed more families than the so-called gay agenda.
I do not support him in any way, shape, or form. I will not support him in any way, shape or form. The happiest day for me will be hearing that not only has he had articles of impeachment written against him, but that he has been impeached. It will be an even happier day when he has to face a war tribunal for his crimes against humanity.
I see George DUBYA Bush as a reprehensible human. He is a war criminal. His inaction before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina makes him guilty of criminally negligent homicide. The blood of every person who died from Hurricane Katrina's aftermath is on his hands. The blood of every man, woman, and child killed on September 11, 2001 is on his hands. The blood of every Iraqi civilian is on his hands. The blood of every American soldier killed because of his war of lies is on his hands. The blood of every blue collar middle class American who died as a result of his policies, be it from suicide, inability to get medical treatment, or murder brought about by desperation is on his hands.
I write all this because I want to be absolutely clear about a few things. First, just because I am an American doesn't mean I support my government. Just because I don't support a government I see as criminal to the core doesn't mean I don't love my country. I do love America. I love it enough to voice my opinions clearly and as loudly as I can. To me, there is more to patriotism than blindly following a leader that has proved himself to be incredibly inept.
True patriotism means standing up and holding our leaders accountable for their actions. Our Founding Fathers were patriots because they dared to stand up against governmental tyranny! They didn't sit around applauding the actions of a criminal totalitarian regime. They took up arms and opposed it! They put their lives on the line because they believed there was something better available.
I also want to be clear to others outside the borders of this country who might actually get a chance to read my writing that not every American supports DUBYA, his policies, or his actions. I am not an imperialist pig. I am hurting from the policies that our federal government has foisted upon us.
Before DUBYA took office, I had a decent job, a decent place to live, and a life I was truly happy to live. Since he has taken office, all of those things have left me. I now struggle to find a decent job. I now struggle to retain my dignity and sanity in a country that calls me wrong or a sinner because of who I am at my core. I struggle to find some meaning to it all in a world where everything I was taught as a child (fair play, cheaters never win...winners never cheat, honesty is the best policy, what a man does in private is his own business, hard work is its own reward) are now no longer applicable.
I am also doing this for Bill Maher. The title for this entry comes from the "New Rules" section of his wonderful program Real Time With Bill Maher. I feel, as he does, that it's time for real Americans to do what the Republicans are doing in droves, distancing themselves from a failed leader. I want the rest of the world to know it's not just them who don't get DUBYA. I don't get him, and I never have. I also don't get the people who supported him in both elections. I might understand how he could bullshit his way into the White House once. However, I can't for the life of me understand how the American people could be so stupid and deluded as to have put him in again.
That's not entirely true. If I can give any credit to him at all, it's the fact that he had enough slime balls playing dirty political tricks to get him elected a second time. It's a simple, but effective recipe: push the fear button and rally the Jesus Freaks!
Even at that, I truly thought the American people were smarter. It just goes to show that it's not always about smarts. I just hope that we have learned from the last five years, and that we shrug off the attempts that are going to be made to pull out the same nasty bag of tricks for the upcoming mid-term elections.
What is more moral, allowing gays to marry, or killing people in a war started on lies? What is more moral, allowing legal abortions, or turning your back as 1600 people lose their lives on American soil because of sheer stupidity? What is more moral, protecting non-viable embryos, or curing debilitating diseases? What is more moral, lying to the American public at every turn, or telling the truth?
Let's no longer be fooled by the lies! We have a chance to turn things around, if only slightly with the upcoming election. Let's not allow ourselves to fall victim to governmental mendacity again. Let's use our brains as more than spacers for our ears, or something to keep our skulls from collapsing due to the vacuum contained therein. In other words, let's do something that DUBYA is completely incapable of doing, thinking!
Blessed be!
Pappy
