The last piece I submitted to OpEdNews as a news article was a post mid-morning AZ time Friday Aug. 1st that purported to confirm citizen’s reports that the Judiciary was going to release a report on the July 25th “Imperial Presidency”/”Non-Impeachment” hearings. Got up nice and early, prepared some notes, made some calls, and got what I thought to be good news. I went so far as to leave my name with press secretaries from here to the Whitehouse. I felt like a real writer that morning.Jauntily I typed something up, sent it out, then midday I found an email from someone who should know but I can’t name and it said to call this other unnamable person in Judiciary and that person would really answer questions. Made the call and was told, in order, there was no report planned, no upcoming effective dates, no further actions being taken, and not a marked increase in calling since the hearings. And I’ve been wondering what to do every since. In an effort to buoy my spirits over the weekend I posted a diary reprint of an old Anti-Bush article and the subsequent “unrelated” firing I received shortly thereafter. And now today, the first workday following Friday’s fiasco, I again finding my job threatened in an “unrelated” issue, on the same day the local newspaper, Mohave Valley Daily News, finally ran “With Glee Bush Proclaims Self ‘World's Biggest Polluter,’" (in the print edition only BTW), which had been published on OpEdNews back on July 22nd .
Increased anti-Bush activism, publishing anti-Bush articles and subsequent “unrelated” job peril: coincidence? Sure. Either way as I type here tonight I am contemplating real world consequences at a time of political activism. And the question comes, is it worth it? Continued in the upcoming column:
