I have a question for George W. Bush.
Mr Bush, what if you and all of us could….feel other peoples’ feelings, as if they were your/our own? If you could stand in other peoples’ shoes, and feel what you are invoking in others, what would you now be feeling?
When my nephew was little, he said something very beautiful, as kids with their amazing wisdom usually do:
“I don’t believe you should punish children. But you should teach them” he said.
I never forgot those words.
Then I got into reading about peoples’ near-death experiences, in which people had been clinically pronounced dead yet somehow miraculously returned to life. And what they experienced on “the other side” of life.
Yeah, we can talk about brain chemistry, coincidence and so on. But do you know, when people *all* report the same thing---people who believe in God/spirit/life/Brahma or whatever you choose to call it, as well as people who are neutral in their beliefs and ditto for people who don‘t believe at all---- and they ALL come back changed because of it, it’s hard to imagine that this is merely brain chemistry or coincidence at work. At least, that’s how it seems to me. I don’t mean to push my views on anybody: Sorry to anybody this message offends! But I still do think this is a profound matter to think about:
People with near-death experiences often report, as above----yes. Feeling other peoples’ feelings, as if those peoples’ feelings were their own. When we watch our life passing in front of us like a movie, we also have a different perspective than here on Planet Earth, in which we experience life from other peoples’ shoes. And as we experience their feelings and reactions, we do so in relationship to how we ourselves acted, ie. What we ourselves invoked in others as a result of our own things said and done.
And it’s a beautiful illustration, I think, of how we are taught instead of punished. A lesson in empathy and self-responsibility: Wheweeee!
So, Mr Bush….what have you got coming on “the other side” ? As amazing as it may seem, I actually feel sorry for you when I think of this. How would this experience change the way you are now, if you could experience just a glimmer of it during this lifetime, before your final moment comes? What would you think from the other side about…profiteering and huge money: How would that help you after your life has passed? Can you take all those trillions with you to your grave? What about mangling, murdering and blowing brains out just to make that money? How would that help you? How would you have made others feel, and what would it be like to stand in their shoes and feel it? What riches would you take with you in your own soul, as the result of a life well-lived?
Ohhhhhh boy.
Mr Bush, you’ve got a lot coming your way.
Bring ‘em on: I can only hope and pray that you will learn your lessons now. Before it is too late. Not even just for you, but for ALL of us. I’m not talking about going to hell or any of that misconceived nonsense: When the day comes that the entire globe is blown up by nuclear weapons for the sake of your own profiteering, it will not only be we, but you too who loses Everything. Including your precious possessions, your money, your house, your “security”, even your life and your limbs.
And what of your messianic belief that you can bring on Apocolypse Now? Can any of us play God? Do any of us have the power to form destiny for all of mankind? Yeah, right.
May you have a glimpse of “the other side” and come to your senses, Mr Bush. We are responsible for the impact we have on others. Perhaps you might find yourself even a happier person for caring, loving, empathizing and doing good, than the horrid and morbid giggles you offer for being a “Wa-ha-ha-ha-ar president” (a war president) as giggled on camera, in Fahrenheit 911. Perhaps when announcing the Iraq War escalation, when you stifled repeated smiles up your sleeve on camera---I saw it and I wasn’t the only one----you might even feel some shame and remorse when having your life review. Mr Bush, please realize how beautiful life and empathy can be. Love is the most precious feeling of all, and it also is informed to act in the right direction. Further, love perceives the truth of who we are, at our core: I believe your soul is misinformed, and the lessons you learn---not the punishments you receive----on “the other side” will not be fun or pretty for you. Neither are any of the experiences we, the people are having right now, under your evil thumb. Wake up, Mr Bush, and get a life!
I have tears in my eyes after writing this. The crimes against people, en masse, are so countless and so vast. You do not make me scared, Mr Bush: You make me sad. And very, very mad. Ohhhh yes! May you find life and soul in spirit and in heart. May you find empathy, truth and compassion. And may you be touched by the light of Spirit which imbues us with these truths of the essence of What Is. And may the searing lessons of truth burn some reality into your brain! Bring ’em on!
