Pope Benedict XVI spoke today at the United Nations on human rights and the need for the world to embrace the fundamental rights of all human beings. That injustice and denial of these fundamental rights only leads to the present insecurity of the world.
Pope Benedict XVI is correct but the problem is that in my article that the United States has refused to sign the United Nations charter on Human Rights, Torture and Abuse makes his entire trip here to the US, the meeting with President Bush and all the pomp and circumstance a façade built on continued lies of this administration and a huge waste of time and money.
If the United States truly intended t honor the Pope's wishes and the wishes of most of the civilized world, the United States would have signed the charter and would honor human rights and stop the nonsense that we spew forward as the justification for torture and abuse in the name of security. Additionally, internal torture and abuse of United States citizens would be addressed by our Justice Department. To date this administrations track record is in direct opposition of the Pope's plea to the World at the United Nations.
