This weekend, I was horrified by the Associated Press article (sourced from WJBK-TV Fox 2 Detroit) about the Woman who refused candy to trick-or-treaters who didn't support McCain. (see http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081101/ap_on_fe_st/odd_halloween_politics;_ylt=Ava_NqviRmMXp2DxEJXtiDntiBIF , or www.fox2detroit.com )
The very idea of somebody usual time for celebration, and, sometimes, community connection to push one's political agenda on many who probably are too young to vote is detestable.
I understand that people feel strong in their various beliefs and that expression should be held as a given for those holding the beliefs and/or opinions, but the situation, setting, audience, and timing of this type of behavior was totally inappropriate.
IF you don't want to give candy to everybody--- then don't, or create a party specifically for this kind of political rabble-rousing. But be considerate of those (especially the innocent and vote prohibited) who are around you.
I suspect that this person needs to grow up a little and stop trying to be the bully!
Maybe some of the kids could help her see that!
It is sad that immaturity of this kind would surface---- but so is the way, sometimes in this time where morals and empathy seem lacking.
