I get the sense that supporters of Ralph Nader's run for president, such as myself, are indignant about the way he is treated in most of the news media. They tend to search for stories about him and leave comments online defending him where they can.
One criticism of Nader that is often raised by Democrats is that he is running because he has an inflated ego. I always find this criticism poorly thought out. It seems to imply that Obama, Kerry, Gore, Clinton, etc. were just selfless public servants undergoing the burden of running for office for the good of the country, with no real desire for personal gain. What a joke.
Nader would say it's another example of "political bigotry". A bigot is someone who treats members of a particular group, such as political candidates who are neither Democrats nor Republicans, with hatred and intolerance.
America needs to face its political bigotry. The disingenuous "arrogance of running" argument applied to Nader is only one of many examples.
