WhenI got home Vee had put up the Christmas tree. Just a little artificial
fellow but enough to do the trick. For the next few weeks it will be
Christmastime. She was also working on the photo album, as she had been
for the past two days, pasting the last of several hundred photos from
our India trip, plus commentary, into our 17th album. I don't know
anyone else who has kept such a meticulous and consistent visual record
of their lives for almost 40 years. And it will outlast anything
digital. Computers are to photo albums as they are to books -- means but
not ends.
