Ugliness does transpire on both sides.

I am fond of calling Zionists on their racist, fascist crap, regardless of their religious affiliation.  I would like to be able to make this whole article about the degradation caused by Israel's paranoid fear that they will be pushed into the sea by goat-herding peasants, and their overwhelming military report in response.  Overkill causes depravity, after all.

But this was a 15 year old boy.  And not two years ago there was a sixteen year old girl in Iran -- on the street, in broad daylight -- for the crime of "asking" to be raped by a 40+ year old man.

At least the Palestinians had the good taste to hang their "shameful" child in a barn.

If you are a Palestinian Muslim who is fond of decrying Israel's cultural and ethnic  marginalization (e.g., genocide) of Palestinian Muslims, how do you explain this incident reported in the Toronto Sun?

I am not suggesting that the aberrant behavior of one family should equal genocide of everyone sharing the cultural or ethnic identity of this disturbed family unit; but this is not considered an outrageous act under Shari'ah Law as it has been practiced by fundamentalist Muslims (e.g., the Taliban).

Progressive thinking people have a right to defend their culture against ignorance.  Likewise, there are better things for progressive minded people to do than defend the indefensible, or feel a whit of regret when those who live by the sword die as it cuts in the opposite direction.

So please explain how these types of actions represent some sort of enlightened response to complex family issues requiring wisdom and a cool head because I am at a bewildering loss.

In some sense, I feel betrayed by someone -- the monster who published this information as being somewhat representative of life in Palestine, the family ignorant enough to commit this heinous act, the social fabric that was so weak that it could not impart a sense of decency to all its members and /or myself for ever believing anything written about either side of the Israeli-Palestinian issue.
