The past few days I was in Washington D.C.
First, I was invited to speak at the International Whistleblowers Association, advising whistleblowers on how to use Opednews, how to use social media to support their cases, their work. It was very gratifying to be told by many, many whistleblowers, including leaders of the organizations, that Opednews.com has become the go-to place where whistleblowers can tell their stories.::::::::
It was very gratifying to be told again and again that these whistleblowers regularly read Opednews and valued it as a news source and as a vehicle for helping them.
Walking the Capitol area, I walked past the Supreme Court building again and again. One time, one intersection at a corner of the Supreme court had a lot of police. My thoughts went to a fantasy that Clarence Thomas was being arrested for fraudulent income reporting. Actually, they were there because a tourist had collapsed on a sidewalk.

Wouldn't it be sweet if these DC cops were there to arrest Thomas? (photo by Rob Kall)
Next, I went to Capitol Hill, visiting many house offices. I spoke to the communications director for Dennis Kucinich, who warmly welcomed me and one of OEN's senior editors, Joan Brunwasser, thanking me for the support we've given Dennis. The last stop was Senator Bernie Sanders office. It was a very pleasant surprise to be told by his communications direcotr that Bernie checks OEN just about every day. Considering that I just stopped in without an appointment, it was nice to have Bernie come in and thank me and tell me to keep up the great work.
Senator Bernie Sanders greets me at his office.
Opednews is also the go-to place for election integrity and we're the site that scores of leading progressives and activists go when they need to get their message out.
We perform a unique function that no other site in the world does.
That's why I'm asking for your help. These are tough times. Money is tight. Opednews.com gets by on an incredibly small budget, but we do need to meet that budget.
Thanks from leading progressives, from whistleblowers, from the most progressive elected members of congress are wonderful, but they don't pay the bills.
Will you help? Please make a donation to support the work of Opednews today.
