Care2 has been pretty good to me; I had amazing success with groups about the Katrina disaster, and my main topic: Empathy Action

I am describing the group on Care2 as the "Op Ed News discussions and project collaborations group." You can consider this your personal sandbox, and you don't have to worry about anybody's opinions especially if they are radically different from yours.

OpEdNews is limited in the social sense since you are unable to list friends and form groups, facilities that make Flickr so successful.

An advantage of Care2 discussions is that the new postings are emailed to you if you so choose. My hope here is that writers can collaborate to create truly effective writing that has considerable influence in this Obama "change" period -- while the "concrete is still wet."

You can load photographs easily, and start group discussions. It is also easy to promote significant Op Ed News articles through the "news note-it" system. The main focus for Care2 is the environment, which is not a focus here, which presents a huge void considering that Liberal sort of means environmental, at least to conservatives.

I would also like to open the idea of developing more advanced "news desk" software to extend the work we do here, and to bring more people into the process.

Google docs offers pretty extensive capabilities that can probably be extended into our writing through simple automation using existing email or blogging facilities.
