In November, I will be on the road again going to Iran researching for my fourth book.Tomorrow, I am on the road again to begin the first chapter in it, an in-depth interview with Ken O'Keefe.
At 8 PM on September 19, 2010, former Marine and contributing author of Midnight on the Mavi Marmara: The Attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla and How It Changed the Course of the Israel/Palestine Conflict, arrives at Portland International Airport to begin a two-week speaking tour through North West America.
O'Keefe served in the 1991 Gulf War and then began speaking out about such "crimes against humanity" as the use of depleted uranium and the US military using soldiers as "human guinea pigs" with experimental drugs that were directly linked to Gulf War syndrome.
Ken is also a social entrepreneur utilizing direct action marine conservation, but is most well known for leading the human shield action to Iraq and as a survivor of Israel's attack on the MV Mavi Marmara as it navigated in international waters on Memorial Day morning 2010. Ken participated in "defending the ship" and disarmed two Israeli Commandos.
On January 7, 2004, O'Keefe burned his US passport in protest of "American Imperialism" and called for US troops to immediately withdrawal from Iraq.
Ken is now a legal citizen of Ireland and Palestine and explains that as a "Citizen of the World my ultimate allegiance is to my entire human family and to planet Earth."
