On Wednesday January 21, the Real Work Begins
Tuesday January 20 will go down in history as the high point of Obamaphoria. On Wednesday January 21, we will all wake up and realize that the real work now begins. A president is a mere symbol of a nation. The USA is made up of 305,640,489 real citizens that get up each day and work diligently to solve real problems. On Wednesday January 21, the single mom whose car will not run in below zero weather will have to find a way to get to work and get the kids to school. 18,900 citizens that were flooded out and left homeless in Cedar Rapids, Iowa will have to conjure up real hope to drive their valiant rebuilding effort with friends and family. There is no political messiah that will ever deliver us from reality. Reality demands local self-sufficiency and active community building. One man is not going to save us. I don't care who that man is. Not only is Barack Obama not going to save us, as the real citizens of America, we are the only ones that can save Barack Obama. Only we can make his promise of hope and a new America real. Real citizens are going to get busy on Wednesday January 21 to find ways to make each home, each community work within a collapsing economy.The fact is, the misguided policies and practices of both the Democratic and Republican parties during the last few decades have brought us to the point where we live under the triple threat of global war, global financial meltdown and global ecological-climate crisis. I have real hope alive on January 20, 2008. It does not come from Obama, but rather it is inspired my faith in all of you, the real change makers in our great nation. You are the small business people that create real jobs. The teachers that guide our youth into a better future. You are the friends and neighbors that make life work in the real world every day.
