Takes issue with extreme right and racist conspiracy theories

::::::::

On Racism and Conspiracies
Friends:
On the extreme conservative right watch out for the rabid anti-Obama racists who thrive on demonic conspiracy theories about the Obama administration's numerous black and Jewish politicians (also high profile Latino and Asian officials)and what they see as the ruin of their white American "Manifest Destiny".Of course, much of this spewing of unadulterated hatred is fanned by themedia mouthpiecesand the deliberatek-12 miseducationof many who remain, willfully or not, ignorant and blind to the history and course of race and ethnic power relationships in America.
Check out the American elementary, secondary and post-secondary educational curriculum which, even in this latter day of so-called "multicultural diversity", reeks with the continuing foulness of fine-tuned, re-enforced Eurocentric "isms" especially in: the deliberate creation and distributions of narrow minded text books and teaching resources,the language arts, literature, the humanities, fine arts/ music, modern library science,history, philosophy, religionand law. Certainly, the bulk of current educational science and research are not and cannot be the panacea to guide us on a path towards a politically organized, futuresociety that highly values and implements on, an equal or at least equitable basis, the goal of multicultural diversity.
Why? Because maintenance of monoculturalism (an unequal system that differentiates and empowers the mores and standards of the main white, middle classcultureover and againstall others) with Europe's descendents in America at the top is the primary value and function of American education. Middle class white (and some non-whites) taxpayers whose taxes pay for state based public education are having a field day with this one when it comes to the issue of poor and minority educational progress: see the recentNew Jersey gubernatorial election of the anti-public school terror, Chris Christie.
Even the social sciences are engaged the re-enforcement of white "isms" so much so that since the 1970's their has been a lingering call for the death of "white sociology and white criminology", and all the otherhuman sciences which tend to Eurocentrically view minorities as the "problem",while advancing middle class whites as the standardfor goodness and healthy norms. What kind of "objective" science is it that consciously and gleefully wallows in "subjectivity"? Answer: much of American social science that has been deliberately created at its inception to promote white, Christian,Protestant, middle class, imperialisticand patriarchic values.as standards for all to somehow achieve.
For the most part poor whites, given their economic unreadiness,do not control the development --- and manufacture for sale ---the means of producing conspiracy theories which they consume as market place buyers; steady customers glued to a noxious diet of hate-mongering. It's in this way that the rise of Sarah Palin, from backwoods Alaska,becomes completely logical.Hers is the postermug of the latest generation of seemingly "quacky" conspiracy theories who especially want to take aim at Obama in advancing the extreme right agenda. An agenda as old as the foundation of the United States itself as witnessed with the new phenomena of the revolutionary era Tea Parties, in contrast to the same period's Committees of Correspondence..
Thus, themany is not just poor white people, but the broad masses of all sectors, including highly affluent,wealthy andyet"miseducated" elites who appear as ideologically backward on questions of race, ethnicity, gender and the extension of human rights guarantees to marginalizedgroups in society. The fact that many blacks, Latino, Asian, and Nativepeople, at times, join in believing conspiracy theories along with their white racist counterparts (even sometimes when a particular conspiracy theory is a negation of and a attack on real minority interests ) is testimony to the power of manipulation and control over the minds and actions of the masses.

Dr. Ibn-Ziyad has demonstrated an abiding concern for racial justice, humanitarian and environmental issues and has been active as a member or leader (1988-present) in the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (Washington, DC), the (more...)
