Speaking Within the Electronic Village
We live, here on oped, in an electronic village
Or rather we live in THE GLOBAL ELECTRONIC VILLAGE
Of which oped is a small part
We are holistic-cell/planet-neuron and planet-whole
At one and the same time, co-thinking planet-thoughts
This place demands a higher order of conversation
It goes better if we do some journalistic homework before speaking
Spontaneity and discipline should be wed
We are not a small intimate audience/speaker assembly
We are speaking and being heard by the WORLD
Friends who know you well can forgive your faults
But THE ELECTRONIC VILLAGE is just being born
And babies take a great deal of care
We are members of a village being born
And must crawl before we walk
We really do not know how to speak here
We must go slow and forgive each other's mistakes
We will learn in time how to be a mouthpiece for planethood
We will grow to fill the shoes
A New Kind of News?
What kind of news is Planet-News?
Is it this or that silly politician mistake
Unique to American strength and weaknesses,
Or should this electronic newspaper be more selective?
If our news on OPED were more global
What would that look like?
Are the articles and the article commentors
Just a bit too locally oriented?
If oped ever becomes a true newspaper of the world
I think the blur of frantic news of the moment
Might have to slow down a bit
And allow the rest of the world to be part
A bunch of infighting
Does not allow a guest to feel welcome
A blur of U.S. news does not allow the world to be seen
I am an American and even I am tired of it
I consider myself a world citizen first
And a U.S. citizen second
What is the top 1/10 of 1% doing lately
How displaying their macho unevolved political selves?
Who cares!
The latest evidence is that their system
Is on the brink of being history
So I am not sure it is news anymore
It is OLD NEWS ! And nothing could be more boring
What you pay attention to becomes your reality
( The new-agers say )
Let's choose a new reality
The guys on the hill are not going to do it
They have given us economy crash
In their mad dash for money glut
All of which is on the surface self-defeating
But something else is happening
As the U.S. can no longer be "Thug of the World"
We will join with other nations
And be equals of other nations
We will create a One World Peace
The politicians of that world
Are all of its citizens
.. you and me and all humanity
Could we write more about them/us?
