Nancy Pelosi told the world that she took impeachment “off the table” over a year ago during a period of time the corporate media propaganda machine was doing their routine of character assassination against her. Coincidentally, after her meeting with George W Bush immediately following her assuming the Speaker of the House role, the media backed off. Being there is typically a “table” when negotiating, it seems there may well have been a negotiated outcome where she would stave off impeachment for only she and the Bush camp knows what her gain was.
As for her telling fellow Dems that her main goal is to make gains in the 2008 elections. In truth by not acting should lose the election for incumbent Democrats. Let me remind Pelosi that the nation is watching, and judging, not only Pelosi, but every person in Congress as they have in front of them 35 sound reasons George W Bush should not only be tried for impeachment, but for criminal activities, including the murder and/or maimed of hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. To not act on this is in itself criminal. Your constituents are watching your actions in this matter to see how you regard and uphold the laws of our nation, how you defend our Constitution, how you defend human rights and suffering, how you defend our troops, how you defend our nation. To not vote to proceed in this matter is telling the world our democracy is dead and it is proper that we have criminals lead us.
Pelosi has attempted to tell the world they have more important matters needing their attention. First, what is more important than the preservation of our democracy? Second, since when is steroid use in baseball more important than how our nation is led?
Should there be no action on this matter there well could not be an election in 2008. Maybe Pelosi has not heard of Martial Law. Maybe Pelosi has not been paying attention to all of the Executive Orders, Presidential Signing Statements, and Presidential Directives George W Bush has been completing in stealth. He has usurped the powers of Congress and assumed the dictatorial position. He is even having individuals ignore subpoenas and nothing is happening to them. Isn't that breaking the law?
Impeachment can take place when an individual leaves office, therefore, maybe the American people, in order to get justice, need to make certain that none of those pressing for impeachment hearings to proceed be re-elected. Then with a new Congress, one that understands it is their duty to uphold the laws of our nation, hold impeachment hearings. That will not get George W Bush and his henchmen, out of office, but will show the world we do not condone criminals to lead us.
Yes, Pelosi, time is running out. But, the time is on you and your fellow members of Congress. You have but a short period of time to show the world you care enough about our nation to make certain those in charge live by the rule of laws that have made our nation strong and have had us looked up to by other around the globe. At this time our image is greatly tarnished and only Congress can do something about bringing us back.
