Barack Obama has struck me as someone who’s about as allergic to the truth, as he is to the progressive politics that seem have long ago drifted away from the Democratic Party. And with each passing day, the winds of change are stopped more and more robustly by a colossal brick wall of Washington’s most entrenched and corrupted insiders; who Obama continues to appoint to the highest posts in his cabinet and administration.
Obama chose to send ‘Bloody’ Madeleine Albright (probably most famous for stating in a 60 Minutes interview that the murder of 500,000 Iraqi children, caused by U.S. sanctions imposed upon that country, was worth the price) to the G20 as his proxy, he asked Hillary Clinton (the poster girl for centrism and kowtowing to entrenched corporate interests in the Democratic Party, also it’s worth noting Clinton strongly opposed Barack Obama’s proposal to sit down and talk to all of America’s enemies during her run against him in the Democratic Primary) to become his Secretary of State, and Obama floated the name of a man (Larry Summers) who thinks that women can’t do math and science as well as men, who drove Cornel West (one of the leading progressive intellectuals in America) off Harvard’s campus, and who suggested that third world countries be used as a repository for the toxic waste of more developed nations (partially because their citizens have shorter lifespans than those of more developed countries!) as his lead candidate to be appointed Treasury Secretary (not to mention a man who’s free market prescriptions have destroyed the economies of entire nations!).
Summers is a Bob Rubin protege who (Rubin that is) promoted the pro-globalization and free market ‘Clintonomics’ that came to define the timidity and centrism of the Clinton era economic philosophy. Rubin was also responsible for the repeal of the Glass-Steagell Act which is one of the central causes of the current economic crisis. And, as everyone is more than well aware of by now, with Obama’s first act of alleged change he appointed Rahm ‘Rahmbo’ Emanuel to his chief of staff position. Could Obama have actually appointed a worse person to take on this critical role? He certainly would have been hard pressed to do so. Rahmbo’s resume reads like a nightmare for anyone on the left/liberal side of the political spectrum.
Emanuel is another Obama crony who got his start in Chicago Daley machine politics (similarly to Valerie Jarrett, David Axelrod, and others). From there he moved on to working for Bill Clinton, during whose presidency he helped pass some of the most regressive legislation of Clinton’s tenure (such as welfare ‘reform’, the crime bill, and NAFTA). Emanuel did a stint on Freddie Mac’s board, he is the son of a man who aided and abetted the Zionist terrorist organization Irgun (who bombed the King David Hotel murdering 91 civilians!), and he is known as being ideologically in line with the hard right Zionists of Israeli politics (there goes future Middle East peace efforts!). If you don’t think Emanuel’s appointment is a seriously negative sign to Palestinians and the greater Muslim community, then I’ve got a bridge I’d like to sell to you.
Emanuel as the head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee recruited pro-Iraq War candidates and discouraged Democrats running on anti-war platforms to speak out against the bloody massacre known as the Iraq invasion and occupation (opposition to which Obama of course owes his ascension to the presidency). Emanuel is seen as fiery, short-tempered, partisan and tough; all traits diametrically opposed to what voters liked in Obama (calm, cool, collected, and looking to bridge the divide between parties, between red and blue regions of the country). I surely can’t divine what lies in store for U.S. presidential politics in the next four to eight years that’s up ahead of us; but to say that Obama has started off on the wrong foot, would be a gross understatement. Obama has started off as if his whole campaign has been a lie! He’s started off as if his presidency will at best be a Bill Clinton retread! And to achieve this meager goal, he’s recruited the same cast of ghoulish, DLCers, hawks, and Democratic Party insiders to lead him (and this nation) by the hand on a sordid dystopian journey.
