One of the lastest Right Wing smears against Barack Obama is that he is somehow unpatriotic, since he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin. As numerous callers to progressive talk radio have pointed out, the official rules for flag etiquette classify wearing the flag on clothing as an unapproved use. Therefore, it would be more accuate to say that Obama is refusing to desecrate the flag, rather than that he refuses to honor it.
