Barack Obama hit John McCain hard on car ownership today in a new TV ad airing in Michigan. This ad follows recent revelations by Newsweek that John and Cindy McCain own a total of 13 vehicles, at least four of which are not domestic despite McCain's claims that he has always bought American (As recently as Sept. 7, McCain told Michigan audiences, "I've bought American literally all my life"). The list of McCain vehicles includes a Lexus, a 2005 Volkswagen convertible, a Honda sedan and a Toyota Prius for the McCains' daughter. News of McCain's vast fleet of automobiles comes on the heels of his recent failure to remember how many homes he owns, and as further evidence that he is utterly out-of-touch with the lives and concerns of ordinary Americans.
Barack and Obama, meanwhile, should have no trouble remembering that they own one home; and one car, a Ford Escape Hybrid built in America.
Spread it around. McCain deserves it.
