Norman Pudwhoretz is the godfather of Neo-con is one of the biggest Chicken-Hawk nut cases clamoring for war with Iran. He argues this situation is comparable like that faced with Hitler in 1938. This historical comparison is ludicrous. Germany in 1938 was likely the strongest country in Europe militarily. The United States possesses overwhelming military superiority over every nation in the world. Germany was clearly a power on the rise. Iran is at best a second rate power with no superiority in anything except the willingness of its leaders to throw waves of human cannon fodder into American guns.
Germany was building a true axis of evil while Bush’s axis of evil has only a rhetorical existence. Politicians like Bush enjoy invoking the adage about those who fail to remember history. More dangerous are those who remember history poorly or, for that matter, manipulate it cynically.
We now know that Bush has had the NIE report which has stated that Iran abandoned their nuclear weapons project in 2003 but Bush still tries to insist that the Iranians are an imminent threat. I think this sounds just like the manipulating of intelligence Bush used to build up reasons to attack and occupy Iraq.
Norman Pudwhoretz and others from the Neo-Convict crowd are now airing a conspiracy theory. They are attacking the authors of the NIE report and accusing the intelligence community of deliberately leaking material calculated to undermine Mr. Bush’s rush to war with Iran.
I think Pudwhoretz may be right in the sense there may be enough patriots left in the intelligence community to conspire that the truth will come out and prevent George W and his Neo-Convict crowd like Pudwhoretz, Cheney and the rest to start another war that they won’t fight or pay for.
My only question will this congress start standing up to these warmongering Chicken-Hawks and prevent a war with Iran before this miserable failure of a presidents administration goes skulking off into the dark pages of history to pimp for big business.
Peace and Liberty through intelligence, strength, and intelligence
