A note to writers who submit to OEN. We've made a modification to our queue article processing system.

From now on, when an article is not accepted, it will get a standardized form letter (depending upon the reason for non-acceptance) unless the article is being sent back for editing, in which case we will add specific information. We've eliminated personalized messages regarding non-accepted articles.

We're doing this so we are consistent and clear and to streamline the process for our team of volunteer editors. We've long felt proud of our policy of letting writers know the status of their writing, while most other websites do not send out notifications.

On some occasions, a few editors, myself included, have been less than ideal in our communications when not accepting articles they didn't like. We've decided that this is not something we want to do. Re-programming the article editing system will enable us to be sure we're consistent in this policy and we apologize to any who have felt that these communications have been mis-handled.

The Opednews editorial and managerial teams are working hard on clarifying guidelines for supporting a more dynamic community here, and we are excited about the possibilities in that for more effective activism.
