The rubber meets the road next week. The first of three Presidential debates begin on Friday, Sept. 26.
The freshly painted cars, whose tires we have been kicking for the last year, are about to get their first road test. We get to see inside the car, not just the shiny chrome bumpers and wire wheels that make them look so new. Not just the louvered headlights and tinted windows that we know so well.
We have heard their horns, but we have not been able to lift the hoods to see what kind of engines drive their 8-cylinder ambition.
Do they run on gas or ethanol? Do the motors that sound so smooth, begin to rattle when you rev them up to speed? How do they handle the road? We all know there are giant pot-holes ahead. Can they avoid them, or do they just plow right through them?
We will begin to find this out next Friday.
There is only one thing that troubles me about the upcoming week.
What Crisis will we face next week?
The debates are to focus on foreign policy and homeland defense.
Will we have an international crisis to lead us into the debates or will we still be focused on a collapsing economy that is a direct result of the policies, foreign and domestic, that we have suffered under for 8 long years.
Will the Republic of Georgia start a war with Russia, will there be some sort of trumped up terrorist attack to strike fear into the hearts of America?
I feel there is no end too which these failed and failing despots will go, in order to keep their grip of fear and division on the American dream.
Lets just hope next weeks crisis is this weeks crisis.
We all know that we are the ones being taken for a spin.
It makes you want to cry "Uncle".
Tnut.
p.s. Are the debaters allowed to wear a hidden microphone during the debates?
