In 1980, I founded the Chesapeake Wildlife Sanctuary to care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Since 1980 literally thousands of wildlife patients were rescued, rehabilitated and released back into the wild as a result of the work of thousands of CWS volunteers and student interns.

By 1999 the Sanctuary had received two valuable land donations. Over the next few years Maryland State Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler and wealthy US Democratic Party campaign contributor Dorothy Shapiro of Potomac, Maryland worked together to gain ownership of the two valuable Chesapeake Wildlife Sanctuary properties -- the 90-acre Showell Wetlands Site and the 7.79-acre historic Aspin Hill Site.

Gansler and Shapiro utilized State of Maryland, Worcester County and Montgomery County courts charging me personally with numerous offenses resulting in ongoing and overlapping legal proceedings meant to debilitate me emotionally, financially and professionally.

The most glaring case of injustice occurred in August 2007 when I was jailed for two weeks in the Worcester County Jail in Snow Hill, Maryland.

According to the Maryland Attorney General's own press release:

In 1997, Pearce operated the Chesapeake Wildlife Sanctuary, a charitable organization. At the time, Perdue Farms entered into an agreement with the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) to settle a water pollution enforcement action by participating in a wetland restoration project. Perdue agreed to deed a 90-acre parcel of wetland near the town of Showell to an environmental trust and to subsidize the project with $150,000. MDE selected Pearce's Chesapeake Wildlife Sanctuary to carry out the restoration project and the funds were directed to her for this purpose. An investigation by the Office of the Attorney General's Environmental Crimes Unit revealed that after Pearce obtained plans for the construction of the wetland, work was never done on the restoration project. In addition, it was discovered that Pearce had spent or transferred the entire $150,000 out of the Sanctuary's land trust bank account.

I, Dianne Pearce, thoroughly and honorably performed my fiduciary responsibility on this project and in all aspects of my work for the Chesapeake Wildlife Sanctuary.

Beginning in the year 2000, the State intimidated each of our contracted wetlands engineers. I worked diligently toward completing the wetlands project, but on May 5, 2006 the State of Maryland illegally seized our completed engineering files from our wetland engineer's office without a warrant just prior to the beginning of construction. The Maryland Attorney General's Office then began to threaten me that if I didn't sign over ownership of the wetlands site that they would, as the Worcester County Public Defender Burton Anderson stated to me, they would "nail your hide to the courthouse wall for all to see." My attorney and I were repeatedly threatened with my imprisonment if I didn't sign over ownership to the State of Maryland. I refused to sign it over.

On August 1, 2007 I was jailed for two weeks in the Worcester County, Maryland without bond. I was released only after I signed over ownership of the wetlands property to the State of Maryland and pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of "failure to submit information." My attorney at the time told me that a $116,000 restitution stipulation was added by the State of Maryland to the plea so I would keep quiet about what had been done to me and the organization.

Earlier in the spring of 2007, Dorothy Shapiro had succeeded in manipulating the judicial system by conspiring with the State and Counties to wrest ownership of the Aspin Hill Memorial Park away from the Chesapeake Wildlife Sanctuary.

Under the direction of Maryland Attorney General Gansler and Shapiro I was subjected to police brutality, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional pain and distress, fraud, illegal eviction, abuse of power, mail tampering, misuse of the judicial system, suppression of evidence, unlawful search and seizure, the threatening and crippling of my lawyers in providing lawful defense, judicial misconduct, coercion, perjury, theft, libel, slander, piling on of baseless/false charges as well as civil and criminal conspiracy.

I've created this web site to post information and documents in preparation of making this information public. I have chosen to focus initially on the Showell Wetlands project since that situation led to my illegal imprisonment in the Worcester County Jail. But I have literally hundreds of documents that confirm the conspiracy and the continued use of cruel and unusual punishment by the State of Maryland, Worcester County, Montgomery County, Dorothy Shapiro and their co-conspirators.

Maryland Attorney General Gansler has indicated that he wants to be President of the United States. His unchecked abuse of power terrifies me. I truly believe that by making this information public that my life is in danger.

It has taken me a long time to become strong enough to post information on this site. The effects of what has been done in the past and what continues to be done to me by Attorney General Gansler and his associates has left me severely traumatized. I suffer from panic attacks and post-traumatic stress from the years of persecution by Douglas Gansler and his associates.

As you read through the following information please keep asking - Why would I take an organization that I founded and loved and choose to exploit it? I did not. I stayed and endured horrific persecution and terrorization because I chose to honor our commitments - even if it put me in danger. I believed in our mission in 1980 and I still believe in it today.

I am asking you to DO SOMETHING. I need YOUR help. I need YOU to look into the facts of what was done to me and the Chesapeake Wildlife Sanctuary. I am not a lone victim of the corruption in the State of Maryland. I've learned of other people who have been terrorized and persecuted. Investigate what I am presenting here you will most certainly discover many more people who are frightened like me. Please help us.
