For years to come, Americans will remember Powell for his trumped up, lie-filled, war mongering speech before the UN before we blew up Iraq. Dispatched to sell his Boss's war, Powell lied often and repeatedly about mobile weapons labs and chemical weapons which would have been so old, they would have been useless. He lied knowingly, because he is entirely too smart to not have known. He should have put the interests of his country ahead of his position, but in the end, he sold out.
Since that frozen moment in time, when Powell held up a faux tube of anthrax, which he knew Iraq did not have, Powell has been on the way out. His largest asset to the administration was his credibility. He loaned credibility to an administration devoid of it. On the other side, he was a constant annoyance to Bush, because he refused to just say "Yes Mr. President", to everything. Bush used the last shred of Powell's credibility at the UN that day, and as such, Powell and his independent thinking were no longer useful. Now that Bush has his "Yes-Girl" in Rice, Powell is being put out to pasture. Not before one more chance to be used by this morally defunct administration.
Today, Bush sent Powell out to denounce the elections from the Ukraine. You see, the guy we wanted, lost, and that is just not accpetable to Bush. Powell had to say today that the election did not meet international standards and that there were indications of widespread voter fraud. You see, the exit polls clearly show that the end results were fudged. What???????????????
Hey Colin, this is your credibility speaking to you- why don't you take a look at the RIDICULOUS amount of voter fraud in OUR elections first? Why don't you look at the exit polling in OUR country?
To see Colin Powell talking about the integrity of anything, is like taking fiscal sanity lessons from Bush. Sorry Colin, you once represented this country admirably. You once stood up for this country. Now you have sold it out and the sad part is that it wasn't even an agenda you necessarily agreed with. Now kids are dying every day in a desert you know we don't belong in, because of your false witness. Because you allowed yourself to be bought and sold.
The only way out of this now, is to come clean Colin. Until you do, i could care less what YOU think about the Ukranian elections. Until you can answer how the Ukranians have better exit polling than we do, or how their minor voter fraud is relevant when major fraud is still going unchallenged in your country, you can keep your integrity-devoid opinions to your self and just walk off into the footnotes of history.
Right now, you will only be remembered as the man who lied to the UN to start a war that has claimed over 100,000 lives. Only you can change that legacy Colin. I pray you do.
