According to this aticle in the Washington Post Mr. Bush is about to try "Twenty in ten" a 20% reduction in Gasoline use in ten years 3/4'rs meant to be as by replacement with ethanol. Mr. Bush, ethanol is manufactured from Corn, the farm tractor that Seeds, fertilizes, reaps the Corn Uses Diesel fuel, (Ergo CO2 Production) as does the truck (Ergo CO2 Production) that takes that corn to the ethanol Plant, there the Corn needs to be heated (Ergo CO2 Production) as to get the fermentation process going as to produce the ethanol which then requires trucking AGAIN (Ergo CO2 Production) as to get delivered to the Gas Station. When burning the ethanol fuel in yor gas tank, CO2 Production. Yes Mr. Bush it will help to reduce your dependance upon Foriegn oil at the expense of the Atmosphere! Getting the manufacturers to achieve better fuel milage is Waaaaay better, where it can be done. As that is what is needed, reduction in overall oil consumption as that would even Help Us Canadians to reduce our Green House Gas outputs as we could slow, or reduce, the Speed of the development of the Athabasca Tar Sands (projects) which are, currently, a Primary increasing source of CO2 from Canada as we process Oil to sell to well, you....The USA. Figure it out, what is currently 'wrong' (Damaging our collective environment) is the ongoing/daily injection/addition of More CO2 then the planetaries re-uptake systems/sinks can accomodate, hence the reason why the Levels are Still rising. I must say I find it simply amazing that a Country Like the United States of America, a people who 'Love a Challenge' are being easily and readily surpassed by England, as England HAS met its' Kyoto Protocol figures, and is/are reducing further still past that! But it does make for nice optics Mr. Bush, just not the best practise.
