It's high time we cashiered the liars and apologists and got onto a government of decency that actually serves the best interests of an electorate.
Obama is not always simply the floater of amorphous guises of promises (Hope! Change!) that enraptured his adoring campaign audiences and for which it is impossible to hold him accountable; sometimes he simply lies (as in his promise to pursue importation of less expensive pharmaceuticals, often originating in the U.S. but sold cheaper abroad than here).
I suppose the Lesser-Evil advocates could claim that he's not as big a liar, as frequent a liar, as obvious a liar, or obnoxious a liar as Bush, and therefor somehow merits our support, however begrudged, we being "stuck with the two-party system and the demonstrated futility of third-party endeavors."
Those same apologists will also submit that "the president isn't at fault, it's the congress." How long has it been since Democrats enjoyed larger majorities of both houses of congress than enjoyed by Obama? If we for a moment consider buying that line, then we are as morally deficient as are its advocates and more stupid in the manipulation.
It's strange that almost any non-American responds with: "It's the President of the United States of course," when asked: "Who is the single most powerful person in the world?" But the Democrat apologists will insist the most powerful person in the world is the helpless victim ofcongressional majorities of his own party!
We'll need to wake up to the lies and such nonsense if there is any hope we will ever be capable achieving and deserving decent governance. The first step will be to reject the misinformation and our apprehension that we are incapable of escaping inevitable control of the two-headed monster of the two-party system. It's high time we skinned this reptilian body politic, cashiered the liars and apologists and got onto a government of decency that actually serves the best interests of an electorate that merits such.
