Your representative is scheduled to vote this week on H.R. 3961, the Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act. As we've mentioned before, this bill would finally address the looming Medicare cuts scheduled to go into effect on Jan. 1, 2010.
As a member of the Patients' Action Network, you've heard us talk about Medicare reform a lot. You know that if the proposed Medicare cuts go through on Jan. 1, 2010, they may prevent many doctors from accepting new Medicare patients, discourage some from investing in new health technology and make many think about closing their medical practices altogether.
The time to act is now -- real health reform means Medicare reform. Call on your representative today to support H.R. 3961.
The bill H.R. 3961 would stop these cuts and prevent them from happening again. It would protect access to care for seniors and the disabled who rely on Medicare and military families who rely on TRICARE. It would provide a permanent solution to the problem so that Congress will no longer need to apply annual, fiscally irresponsible Band-Aid fixes to stop impending cuts that get worse year after year.
Listen to the AMA's new radio ad urging Congress to keep the commitment they made to America's patients and doctors, then call your representative. Use our hotline at (888) 434-6200. Tell your representative to support H.R. 3961.
