Tonight Larry King interviewed Donald Rumsfeld for the full hour of his show. King asked Rumsfeld how he deals with the emotional part of sending men and women to die. King framed the question three different ways three different times, but still couldn't muster even the slightest emotion from Rumsfeld. Rumsfeld's only response was that 'he reads history a half hour each night before going to bed... which puts everything in context. It teaches him that 'throughout history there have been things worth dying for.'Yet another "MISS" for media. Where were Larry King's follow-up questions to Rumsfeld? Where was: Are any of your children or grandchildren serving in Afghanistan or Iraq? If no, why not?... or... Are the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan worth the lives of your own sons and daughters?
These questions are long overdue. And so are the answers. The personal families of chicken-hawks ARE fair game for reporters. Much like the murdered son of Cindy Sheehan was presumed 'fair game' for Rumsfeld and Bush.
